About

Hello, I'm Andrew.

I'm a psychotherapist in Dublin. I work with autistic people, people with ADHD, and couples. Sometimes those areas overlap. I'm autistic and have ADHD myself, and that's part of what brought me to this work.

I left school at 13. I was being bullied, and neither my autism nor my ADHD had been recognised. I didn't have the words to explain why school felt so hard, or the support that might have helped me stay. For years, I thought education just wasn't for me.

I worked as a glazier, a mechanic and a builder before going back to education as an adult. I studied social science, then counselling and psychotherapy, and eventually psychoanalysis at Trinity. The 13-year-old me would have had a good laugh at that last bit.

What it's like to work with me

I'm hands-on in the room. I'll ask questions, tell you what I'm noticing and check whether it makes sense to you. I'm curious about the different parts of us: the part that wants to speak up, the part that goes quiet, and what each has learned to do to get through difficult moments.

With couples, we might slow down a conversation you've had a hundred times. One of you wants to sort it out now; the other needs a minute to think. Before you know it, you're both feeling unheard. We look at what happens in those few seconds, because that's often where there's room to do something different.

I bring that same curiosity and practical approach to my talks, groups and writing.
